Are BioThane® dog collars completely waterproof and stink-proof? +
Yes. Unlike traditional leather or nylon collars, genuine BioThane® features a high-strength polyester webbing core wrapped in a water-resistant polymer coating. It is completely non-porous, meaning it cannot absorb water, mud, or anything else your dog might roll in. It will never rot, peel, stretch, or harbor the bacteria that cause "wet dog" smells. When it gets dirty, simply wipe it down with a damp cloth or rinse it under a tap and dry thoroughly to make it look brand new. Always ensure your hardware is dried after exposure to water to prevent rusting.
How strong are BioThane® collars, and are they safe for large dogs or heavy pullers? +
BioThane® is incredibly durable, with a break strength of approximately 450kg (1000 lbs) per inch of width, making it far stronger than standard nylon webbing. To ensure maximum safety for big dogs, we handmake all our collars using premium hardware and secure them with high-tensile Chicago screws rather than standard pop-rivets. This reduces the risk of hardware snapping or pulling apart on active walks. Whilst we don't recommend attaching a lead to a collar on a dog that is prone to pulling to avoid injury, our collars are very durable.
Will a BioThane® collar rub, chafe, or irritate my dog's neck? +
No. One of the best qualities of BioThane® is its soft, leather-like flexibility. It softens further with wear and has rounded, smooth edges that lie completely flat against your dog's coat. Unlike stiff nylon, which can trap abrasive dirt and cause friction, or leather, which becomes stiff and rough when wet, BioThane® stays smooth and pliable. This makes it exceptionally comfortable for daily wear and perfect for dogs with sensitive skin.
